Secret Santa FAQ

Main Bot FAQ

What events am I a part of?

When using the command /secretsanta view, you need to specify the name of the event you want to view. Don't worry, you don't need to remember the name yourself! The bot will attempt to autofill the event field with all the events that you are a part of; just click the correct one!

How do I figure out who my recipient is?

Either ask the event's manager, or use the command /secretsanta view <eventname>.

What is the snooper setting?

If snooper is enabled for an event, the event's manager will be sent a copy of all messages sent through the bot (along with who sent them).

Note: even if this setting is not enabled, messages are still logged by the bot, so don't submit any personal information!

How do I send a message to someone?

Use the command /secretsanta message; check out the quickstart guide on messaging for more details!

Can I reply to a message with an attachment?

Currently, attachments are only supported as an initial message; you'll either need to send a link as your reply instead, or create a new message to send.

How do I reply to a message a second time?

Messages can only be replied to once; you'll need to wait for another reply in order to send a message back.

Oh no, I accidentally sent a message in a public server!

Don't worry, the command interactions sent by the bot are shown only to you if they're executed in a server (even the User is typing... notification is hidden when filling out a command). However, it is still recommended to only use the /secretsanta message commands within DMs with the bot.

Can I tell someone else who I'm the Santa for/who their Santa is?

No. The bot keeps track of this, and a physical form will be dispatched to your location if you happen to spoil someone's Santa. Once the form arrives, it will [DATA EXPUNGED] your [REDACTED] until you [REDACTED]. See [HYPERLINK BLOCKED] for a record of prior events.
